Called the salesman at TT and asked if I should buy an Orion. You don't get that from "offshore" suppliers. It is nice that the service location is also the factory and also the engineering design location I imagine if a bench tech gets stuck on a problem, they can go to engineering for help, and it's in the same building. They also encourage owners to service their own stuff and will provide parts and help. One benefit to T-T was already mentioned: They'll service anything they ever made, no matter how old it is. I still use it "portable" quite a bit as it will run for most of a weekend using a 14AH gel cell and its performance is remarkable.īesides T-T remember Elecraft and FlexRadio also make great high-end HF rigs. The little Scout is very cute and was an interesting idea. I also have gear from Yaesu, Kenwood and Drake. Few years back had the OMNI-VI and it was excellent although a pretty "large" rig (lots of desk space). In the past I've owned T-T rigs going all the way back to the PM-2, original Argonaut, Triton, Triton IV, Omni-A, etc. The K3 should be better, it's 8 years newer technology and also costs more!
